Like most other abbreviations, ASL can mean multiple things depending on the context. It can mean American Sign Language which is a visual language typically used by deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals through hand movements to communicate. ASL can also mean Age, Sex (Gender), and Location in a chat – the simplest way to ask others of basic personal information.
